apartment

Property Details:

Total Area: Approx. 650 sqf (1+1 bedrooms)

Location: 17th floor of a brand-new building in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur city center.

Purpose: Investment property for rent.

Design Concept:

Since the target tenants are mostly Japanese and Western tourists or high-level expats, the style blends Japanese simplicity with Nordic comfort, while preserving a touch of South Asian flair. The goal was to create a cozy, natural, and relaxing atmosphere throughout.

Although the owner intends to rent it out, we didn't compromise on quality—the space design and furniture selection were all handled with the standards of a personal home in mind.

My design philosophy remains the same: light on hard renovations, heavy on furnishings. This time, against a soft backdrop of divine light brown and morning fog white on the walls, floor, and ceiling, I used furniture and decor to inject a warm yet lively color palette. Combined with linen and cotton textures, the space feels effortlessly soothing and genuine.

In a local market where heavy, traditional renovations still dominate, this approach stands out by being closer to nature and human comfort—creating a true sanctuary from the hustle and bustle.

Highlight of the Project:

Design relies on personal sense and intuition, but home renovation relies even more on project management.

I couldn't visit the site even once for this project, so I had to completely rely on the local contractor. All design communication and progress monitoring happened over phone calls and online discussions. I had to ensure the design was accurately conveyed, quality was maintained, local workers were managed effectively, and everything was completed on time.

What I’m most proud of in this project is the construction management. Even working across the ocean, I still achieved my goals and expectations. I'm incredibly grateful to the local team for their cooperation.

At DDV, we don't just do soft furnishings—we handle full space design, planning, and renovation execution. I look forward to sharing more successful projects with you in the future. Most importantly, if you need a designer, feel free to reach out!
